The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured an interim forfeiture of the sum of fromN1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira) only. The order was granted by Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano. The forfeiture was as a result of a motion exparte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion Four and Ninety Four Thousand Naira) only found hidden away in the bank account of MAGEL RESORT LIMITED, a company linked to the former first lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan. The EFCC received an intelligence alleging that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, was said to have stored huge sum of money that is not being used by anybody. Upon receipt of the intelligence, the Commission swung into action by conducting preliminary investigation which revealed that the former first lady and some relatives of the former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Former WBA world super-middleweight champion,  George Groves  has announced his retirement from boxing four months after losing his WBA belt to fellow Briton Callum Smith. 30-year old Groves, who became world champion at the fourth attempt when he beat Russia’s  Fedor Chudinov  in Sheffield in 2017, said he wanted to go out at the top.   “I don’t want there to be a time where I’m ‘too old’ to box on, or where an injury retires me in or out of the ring,” he said in a statement on his Instagram account. In his fight prior to the Chudinov bout Groves beat  Eduard Gutknecht , the German suffered a serious brain injury that left him in a coma and unable to fight again. Groves offered a “prayer” for Gutknecht.  “He was put into an induced coma for three weeks and bravely fought his way back to consciousness. A man has committed suicide and he left a suicide note swearing he's innocent after he was accused of playing a part in the kidnap of an albino child in Malawi. Police in Karonga have been searching for a one-and-half-year-old baby with albinism and her kidnappers after the child was abducted around 4am when she was sleeping with her mother. Donald Msafiri was one of the suspects in the abduction of the child and he was taken in for questioning. After he was released, he hanged himself, but not without leaving a suicide note for his wife. In the note, Msafiri told his wife that he is not bothered because he did not take part in the kidnap of the albino child. He went on to advise men to be contented with what is theirs and stop wanting what others have. The abduction and murder of albinos is rampant in Malawi. Temitope Hammed, the elder sister to Misturat Titilope Hammed, 20, one of the four girls crushed to death by a vehicle in Abeokuta, has blamed Yahoo boys for the accident. It was reported that a Toyota Avensis car last Friday, lost control after experiencing a tyre burst, somersaulted and crushed four students of the Government Technical College and one other person to death in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun, who confirmed the incident in Abeokuta on Saturday, said that the car lost control due to tyre burst, somersaulted and hit the students where they were seated in front of a house. “The vehicle lost control due to tyre burst and speeding , sumarsaulted and went to meet people sitting down outside a house instantly killing five of them and injuring two others. The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Edo State House of Assembly, Michael Ohio-Ezomon, has been abducted by unknown gunmen from his house at Eme-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of the state. Confirming the incident, the state police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, said Ohio-Ezomon was asleep in his home when the gunmen forced their way in and abducted him at about 1am today. His orderly was killed during a fire exchange with the gunmen.  The police boss said no contact had been established with the gunmen. Meanwhile, the body of the orderly has been deposited in a mortuary in the area.
