Saraki who fell out with the Buhari-led government following his emergence as Senate President in 2015, said this when he paid a visit to Muftau Gbadamosi, olofa of Offa, at his palace on Sunday. According to Saraki, if not for God, he ''will not be standing today.” “ If I have skeleton in my cupboard, this government would have silenced me and forced me to drop the campaign. But for God and the support of the people I would not be standing today. They didn’t want to honor our agreement. We all laboured and what they couldn’t get in three times they got it and we demanded that they give to Kwara what we deserve. “APC leaders in Kwara can’t access President Buhari for anything. Image
President Buhari's senior media aide, Garba Shehu was a guest on Channels TV tonight where he spoke on the recent suspension of the chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen. According to him,  'It's a settled matter. I am not even sure that investigation is warranted in this circumstance, because there's an admission'. Garba Shehu went on to say,  'our laws should be allowed to work, the President acted upon the directive by a court of law recognized by our own constitution, therefore, the President has done no wrong'. It’s wrong to see this (Onnoghen's Suspension) as political intimidation of anyone. The President needs not to intimidate anyone because in any case, he has no case before any judge. Nigerians are just concerned that President Buhari is not doing this (Onnoghen's Suspension) in a very nice way. Are we concerned about nicety or doing the right thing? Those people who are saying that we are drifting into dictatorship,

PDP rejects moves to increase VAT, impose more taxes …say Buhari administration is insensitive and anti-people

Image
Press statement from PDP below.. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) reject the plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to increase the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) as well as to impose other stringent taxes on goods and services being used by Nigerians. The Party and its campaign say such a plan is cruel, anti-people and further exposes President Buhari as uncaring and insensitive to the plight of Nigerians, who are already overburdened and groaning under the economic hardship occasioned by his harsh policies and incompetence in office. President Buhari is aware that the increase in taxes directly results in increase in the costs of common goods and services on which families depend for survival, yet he is imposing them on the system. It is indeed heartrending that at a time other leaders all over the world are seeking ways to lift burdens off the shoulders of their citizens, President Buhari is rather planning to put

And you can ask these ministers. I never asked them how are they running their parastatals, the boards. I appointed them and I trust them. I allow them work. I don’t have to tell you what noise the other states are making especially when compared to the votes I got in 2015. So, I think I try to be fair. I think I tried to be fair. The seized cannabis weighs nearly 700kg, all confiscated within the capital Osogbo.   The Osun State Commander of the NDLEA, Samuel Egbeola said, “ the mop-up exercise is targeted at dislodging black spots across the state where illicit drugs are likely to be abused, which will in turn ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the conduct of the forthcoming General Elections.”   He said this will go a long way in preventing individual with tendencies of using illicit drugs during elections.  This is to undermine the sanctity of the 2019 General Elections.  The NDLEA boss said one male suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure and that the suspect was providing useful information on the activities of other illicit drug dealers.
