Nigerian Army discovers new terrorist group in North-East

The Nigerian Army has uncovered a new terrorist group,  Jama’atu Nus’ratul-Islami Wal-Muslimina , believed to be operating in the North-East of the country, and vowed to fight the group with “advanced technologies.”   The army in a statement said it had also identified the leader of the new group as  Abul-Fadl Iyad Gali , adding that the existence of the group “portends grave danger to Nigeria’s national security.” The Army also said its troops also killed an Islamic State of West Africa Province media chief, Sale Ahmad, also known as Baban Hassan, in a joint operation with the Nigerian Air Force. 3 people die, 8 injured during a birthday party clash in Bauchi State

The Bauchi State police command have confirmed that three persons were killed and eight others injured in a clash that erupted at a birthday party on Sunday night in Lushi Ward in Bauchi.   The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the incident saying that 75 suspects had been arrested in connection with the clash. He said that two houses were burnt during the incident and that the situation has been brought under control. He also said that investigation was going on to get to the root of the crisis.   According to Abubakar, the crisis started following a misunderstanding among some youths at a birthday party in Kusu area of Sakani which later spread to other parts of Yelwa Ward. An eye witness said that the incident might have started when two young men fought over a young lady at the venue of the birthday party. A 32-year-old Nigerian national, was nabbed with illicit drugs worth Rs 11 lakh at Calangute, Goa, India, in the early hours of Sunday, 18th November.� � Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said they received a tip-off that a Nigerian identified as Frank Nathaniel would be coming to deliver drugs at Porbawaddo, Calangute, following which they kept a watch at the spot. � The Nigerian was rounded up when he arrived at the spot. A personal search was conducted and he was found with a cocktail of illicit drugs, all worth Rs 11 lakh. � PI Dalvi said he was allegedly found in possession of MDMA worth Rs 72,000, morphine worth Rs 40,000, amphetamines worth Rs 72,000, charas worth Rs 6,39,000, LSD worth Rs 2,30,000, and ganja worth Rs 46,000, all worth Rs 11,05,000. A scooter worth Rs 30,000 has also been seized by the police. � Calangute police have registered an offence under sections 20 (b) (ii) (A), 20 (ii) (B), 21 (a), 22(b) and 22 (c) of the NDPS Act.

President Buhari receives Polio Champion Awards from Rotary International

President Buhari has been conferred with the prestigious Polio Champion Award in recognition of his uncommon commitment and leadership in the polio eradication programme in Nigeria. Rotary International President, Barry Rassin, who is on a four-day official visit to Nigeria, presented the award to President Buhari, Thursday, at State House, Abuja. The Polio Champion Award was instituted by Rotary International in 1995 to recognize and appreciate Heads of Governments and organisations that have played a key role in polio eradication around the world. The last recipient of the Award was Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada. Other past recipients include Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

At least 1,801 persons have been confirmed dead and 50,212 others displaced in the recent attacks in Plateau state cutting across  115 communities including Jos North, Jos South, Bassa, Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas, that were affected by the crises.    The Committee on Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), set up by the Plateau Government, made the confirmation today when Bala Danbaba (retired), Chairman of the committee, presented his report to Governor Simon Lalong. He said that the committee, whose one month period was later increased to two months, received 55 memoranda and visited 27 camps where the IDPs were quartered. “The only IDPs camp we did not visit was the one at Lere, in the Dorowa area of Barkin Ladi Local Government. We could not go there because of security reasons. The committee also visited all the affected communities for an on-the-spot assessment. The Libyan Navy has rescued 199 illegal immigrants, including women and children, while attempting to reach Europe by sea.   "A Libyan Coast Guard patrol rescued 179 men, 16 women and 4 children on board rubber boats in the middle of the sea," the Information Office of the Libyan Navy explained.       The office added that the immigrants were of different African nationalities, including Nigeria. Four of them were from Egypt.   The migrants were handed over to the immigration HQ of the Immigration Control Agency after providing them with humanitarian and medical assistance, according to the Information Office of the Libyan Navy.

An elderly man identified as Musa Wakatu, today climbed a telecommunication mast at Nicon junction, Maitama, Abuja to protest the alleged encroachment of his land by the  American University of Nigeria (AUN) owned by former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate,  Atiku Abubakar . Wakatu, who threw leaflets from the mast to the crowd who gathered under the mast, alleged that the former Vice President, through his university, encroached and fenced his landed property at Bajabure in Girei local government area in Yola, Adamawa state, and built structures inside. He said he had protested the encroachment on March 14th 2012 when he climbed a mast at federal high court in Abuja but nothing was done. Former United States first lady, Michelle Obama, in a recent interview with 2020 spoke about her memoir, ‘Becoming’ in which she briefly mentioned smoking marijuana when she was young. When asked why she decided to include that information in the book, Obama replied, "that's what I did."   She went on to explain why she mentioned her brief time experimenting with marijuana, saying "that's part of the becoming story. Everybody had something that they had to work through, something that they were figuring out. So why would I hide that from the next generation?"   In the book, Michelle Obama also opened up on her struggles with infertility, miscarriage and how she was able to conceive her two daughters through IVF.

HRH, Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and wife Che’ Puan Khaleeda Bustamam have expressed grief over the death of abused  9-month-old baby.   The victim, Nur Muarzara Ulfa Muhammad Zainal Zara, died on Friday, after being subjected to physical and sexual abuse by her babysitter’s husband. The Nigeria Labour Congress has threatened to embark on an indefinite strike if the Federal government reneges on the N30, 000 minimum wage agreed in the Tripartite committee report presented to President Buhari on Tuesday November 6th. The Federal government yesterday debunked reports that President Buhari had endorsed the N30, 000 minimum wage proposed by the Labour union. Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, told state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting that the N30, 000 was merely a recommendation.  ''I think it (N30,000) was a recommendation. Yemi Osinbajo recently commended Goldcoast Developmental Foundation, a Bayelsa based non-profit organisation, for distributing relief materials to flood victims in Bayelsa and Delta States through the foundation’s 'All Lives Matter Flood Relief Programme' Osibanjo, who visited one of the camps where the foundation distributed relief materials, said  “the reward for the good work you young people are doing, is the smiles you put on the faces of others”. The foundation, which works with a team of volunteers made of up of doctors, nurses and pharmacists visited temporary camp sites of displaced flood victims in Igbogene(Yenagoa),  Igbedi,  Kolga and Toru- Angiama in Delta state to distribute a wide range of relief materials; including drugs, insecticide treated mosquito nets and food items. The Lagos state police command has invited and interrogated Mrs Bademosi, wife of the chairman of Credit Switch leader, Chief Ope Bademosi, who was murdered at his home in highbrow Parkview estate in Ikoyi, Lagos state last Wednesday October 31st. Mrs Bademosi was invited to write her own statement after the cook, Sunday Anani, the prime suspect in the murder case, was arrested last Friday November 2nd. The day of the incident, Mrs Bademosi had gone to the bank in the morning to carry out some transactions and returned home to find her husband in the pool of his blood. The Togolese cook who was employed four days before the incident was no where to be found when the incident happened. He was later arrested in his hideout in Akure, the Ondo state capital. In a viral video, the cook alleged that assassins killed the chief. Watch video  here .
