Early this morning, the Nigerian government received another batch of 162 Nigerians stranded in Libya. The returnees were received at 3:30am on Wednesday by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.   They were returned via Libyan Airlines. Idris Muhammed, the Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, received the returnees on arrival at the cargo wing of the airport. The returnees consisted of 100 females, including four pregnant women and 62 males. After profiling, it was revealed that they included 82 adult females, 13 female children, five female babies, 50 male adults, four boys and 13 male babies.Two of the returnees had medical cases and were taken away in an ambulance. Commenting on the latest returnees, Muhammed decried the huge number of Nigerians stranded in the North African country. He enjoined the returnees to be agents of positive change and take up the challenge again

On Monday, members of the Lagos state house of Assembly threatened to begin impeachment proceedings against the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, over allegations of gross misconduct.  According to the state lawmakers, Ambode who lost out on having the APC governorship return ticket during the party's controversial governorship primaries in October last year, has been spending money from the 2019 budget that he hasn't yet presented before the home. There are also allegations that Governor Ambode was silently funding the campaign of PDP governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, with state funds. The lawmakers have given Governor Ambode seven-days to come himself to present the 2019 budget or face impeachment immediately. Giancarlo Favarin , the head coach of  Lucchese  in Serie C has been given a five-month ban for head-butting another coach after ordering one of his players to break an opponent's legs In the viral video below, Giancarlo is launching a killer headbutt on  Gaetano Mancino , assistant coach of rivals  Alessandria , which knocked him to the ground. The incident occurred during a brawl at the end of a 2-2 draw between the sides on Monday.  The Serie C tribunal said of his behaviour during the brawl: 'Favarin began a slanging match with a member of the opposing team's staff at the peak of which he hit the latter with a violent headbutt, making him fall to the ground'.  The tribunal added that the 60-year-old 'invited his own player to 'break the legs' of an opponent.'  Mancino, the recipient of the headbutt, was also punished for 'offensive and provocative behaviour' and was given a two-match ban.

Lawyers have shunned the boycott order issued by the Nigerian Bar Association on Monday as a way to protest the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter onnoghen.  Cases are presently being heard at the Supreme Court with Justice Mary Peter-Odili presiding. The lawyers had taken a decision to boycott the courts yesterday after staging a protest at the entrance of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA over Onnoghen's suspension.

French giant,   Paris Saint-Germain   have announced the signing of Argentine international Leandro Paredes from   Zenit St Petersburg   in   Russia. Last week, it was reported that a pregnant girl who was allegedly raped by her father and an NGO worker died in an accident on their way to court (read  here ). It has now been revealed that the girl's father, who is responsible for her pregnancy, has now retracted his guilty plea, following her death. Jacob Alonge, a native doctor who is known for his diabolical powers, was accused of impregnating his own daughter, Gift, multiple times and even aborting the pregnancy once. The latest pregnancy is what led to him being charged with incest. The 54-year-old pleaded guilty to the rape of his 17-year-old daughter. He was to be sentenced following the guilty plea. However, on getting to the court for the sentencing, he changed his guilty plea after he got information that his daughter, her uncle, and the NGO workers who were working on her case all got involved in an accident on the way to the magistrates’ court in Benin City, Edo State and all died. An unarmed man suspected to be an armed robber was allegedly shot dead by policemen in Edo state on Tuesday morning January 29th. According to Instagram user, @CarrickDublin who shared a video from the scene online, the suspected man was fleeing the scene after he was apprehended when the police shot at him. Transparency International has just released a new list of countries ranked highest in corruption practices. Nigeria scored 27 over 100, and was ranked 144/180 countries studied. Somalia, a country located at Sub-Saharan Africa was listed as the highest country with the highest corruption report. It scored 10 over 100 and was raked 180 out of 180 countries analyzed. However, Denmark, a country located at Western Europe & European Union scored 88 over 100 and was ranked 1st and the best country with a ‘No’ or little corruption report.   The 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released by Transparency International reveals that the continued failure of most countries to significantly control corruption is contributing to a crisis of democracy around the world. Twitter has done its thing again as a woman who was looking for her long lost brother, who was given up for adoption 17 years ago, found him after she took her search to Twitter. @nessaaf_18 shared photos of her brother and tweeted that she would love to find him. She said that her mum lost control of her and her two siblings and all three of them were placed in a foster home. Later, her father was able to take control of her and her sister but he couldn't take her brother Joey (Ramon Joseph Perez) because he isn't his biological child.  The boy was given up for adoption and for 17 years, they heard nothing from or about him. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra has said  IPOB will hold a referendum on the sovereign state of Biafra on  February 16, a date the Independent National Electoral Commission has set aside for presidential and National Assembly elections. Students of the University of Ibadan who are currently on Industrial Training at the Psychiatric home in Aro, Abeokuta in Ogun state, were left in shock after staff of the hospital showed them the guest room where they would stay for the six-weeks duration of their training. A pastor has taken to Facebook to thank God and share a testimony after his daughter miraculously survived a ghastly accident that could have made her lose her life. Bishop Randy Borders told of how his daughter, Hope Elizabeth Borders was involved in a car wreck last Friday. Her car somersaulted multiple times down a mountain in the US. Yet she walked away with just a bruised rib caused by the tight seatbelt. He said rescuers at the scene did not expect her to be alive and they were shocked when they saw that not only was she alive but she was also unhurt. Randy Borders wrote: This picture I just took of my daughter and I means more to me than I could ever explain. Yesterday (Friday) my daughter was in wreck four hours away from me. She rolled 3 or 4 times down a mountain. She walked away with only bruised ribs from seatbelt. Troopers did not expect her to be alive, let alone unhurt. All is well. She’s good. God is awesome.
