An Italian town is offering new residents $10,000 to relocate and have a baby. Locana, a town in north west Italy, is experiencing a dwindling population and the mayor is offering cash rewards in order to attract more families back to the shrinking community. Anyone wanting to relocate to the Alpine commune in the Piedmont region could be paid up to $10,000 (€9,000) over three years to make Locana their home. Giovanni Bruno Mattiet, Locana's mayor, has made the offer in the hope of saving the community from dying out.  At first, Mattiet appealed to Italians or foreigners already living in Italy to relocate to Locana but the response was not encouraging, He is now extending the offer to non-Italians living abroad as well. Due to the dwindling population, the community has seen shops, restaurants and amenities shut and its only school is facing closure. Last year there were 40 deaths in the town but just 10 babies were born, with a similar ratio in previous year

Chicago State police department confirm that they are expanding the search area for surveillance video of actor Jussie Smollett's alleged attackers. Already, Chicago police say they have "reviewed hundreds of hours of video" as they search for footage of the reported attack on actor Jussie Smollett. They've now expanded their search to the Chicago riverfront, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. Here's Guglielmi's full statement: “Chicago police detectives continue to investigate serious allegations of a potential racially charged hate crime that took place in the downtown area Tuesday morning around 2 a.m. The Streeterville neighborhood where the alleged attack occurred has a very high density of city and private surveillance cameras. Two seat cushions have been found washed up on a beach in north west France and investigators believe the seats are from the missing plane carrying Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala which disappeared over the English Channel. Search crews have been scouring the sea around the Channel Islands since the Piper Malibu being flown by pilot Dave Ibbotson disappeared on Monday, January 21. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch said today: On the morning of Monday 28 January, we were advised by the French safety investigation authority, that part of a seat cushion had been found on a beach near Surainville on the Cotentin Peninsula.  A second cushion was found in the same area later that day. From a preliminary examination we have concluded that it is likely that the cushions are from the missing aircraft.

Early this morning, the Nigerian government received another batch of 162 Nigerians stranded in Libya. The returnees were received at 3:30am on Wednesday by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.   They were returned via Libyan Airlines. Idris Muhammed, the Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, received the returnees on arrival at the cargo wing of the airport. The returnees consisted of 100 females, including four pregnant women and 62 males. After profiling, it was revealed that they included 82 adult females, 13 female children, five female babies, 50 male adults, four boys and 13 male babies.Two of the returnees had medical cases and were taken away in an ambulance. Commenting on the latest returnees, Muhammed decried the huge number of Nigerians stranded in the North African country. He enjoined the returnees to be agents of positive change and take up the challenge again

Lawyers have shunned the boycott order issued by the Nigerian Bar Association on Monday as a way to protest the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter onnoghen.  Cases are presently being heard at the Supreme Court with Justice Mary Peter-Odili presiding. The lawyers had taken a decision to boycott the courts yesterday after staging a protest at the entrance of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA over Onnoghen's suspension.

French giant,   Paris Saint-Germain   have announced the signing of Argentine international Leandro Paredes from   Zenit St Petersburg   in   Russia.
