Two more members of the House of Representatives have officially announced their exit from the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaker of the House of Reprsentatives, Yakubu Dogara, read letters from Ahmed Abu (Niger State) and Stephen Olemija (Ondo State) announcing their decison to defect from APC to the Social Democratic Party and the Action Alliance, respectively. The lawmakers attributed their defection to the conduct and outcome of the APC primaries in their respective states.

A South African boy, believed to be 7-years-old, was stabbed to death in a school's toilet by a teenage student who attends a nearby secondary school. The teenager accused of stabbing the younger student is in police custody. The teenager is accused of hiding overnight, waiting for the victim in a school's toilet.  The victim, a grade one pupil, was stabbed multiple times, the authorities said. The suspect was thought to have been in a relationship with the victim's older sister, they added. The young boy may have been targeted after the suspect fell out with his older sister, the local authority said. The suspect is a student in grade 11, which is usually for 16 and 17-year-olds, who attends a nearby secondary school. The victim was in grade one, usually for six and seven-year-olds. The police are carrying out further investigations at the primary school in Makapanstad in North West province, BBC reports. The local education authority said in a statement

This is the heart-stopping moment a 1-year-old girl fell onto train tracks in India seconds before a train passed over her. But she survived without a scratch. The child's parents had just disembarked from the train when she slipped off her mum's hand and landed on the track. Her parents couldn't get her out because a train passed almost immediately. Miraculously, the train didn't hurt the child as she landed in the gap between the floor and the track. She was picked up immediately after the pain passed, tearful but unhurt. The incident happened at a station in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

A Kenyan priest was killed in francophone Cameroon’s volatile English-speaking Southwest region where violence has surged after separatists declared an independent state, church sources told AFP on Thursday.  “A Kenyan priest was shot dead in Kembong yesterday,” one source said. “There was no fighting, he was in the… church in Kembong when he was killed,” another official said in Buea, capital of the Southwest. The church suggested the priest may have been killed by the military. “There are no ‘Amba Boys’ in Kembong at this moment but the Cameroonian army is there,” one source said, referring to armed separatists fighting for an independent state called Ambazonia. An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 15-year-old boy (name withheld) for allegedly abusing a seven-year-old girl sexually. The accused resides at No. Obanta St., GRA, Apapa, Lagos, and is being charged with sexual abuse. The prosecutor, Insp Raphael Donny told the court that the accused committed the offence 26 in his house at No. 4 Obanta St., GRA, Apapa, Lagos. Donny said that the accused lured the girl into a garage outside their compound and abused her, NAN reports. The prosecutor stated that the offense is contrary to the provisions of Section 28 of Child Rights Law of Lagos State 2015. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate B. O. Osunsemi, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum. Osunsemi ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.
