Two armed robbers attack Hillsong Church in South Africa after pretending to be delivery men
Two robbers on Monday attacked the Hillsong Church in Century City, Cape Town after they gained entry by pretending to be delivery men.
The men reportedly robbed some staff of their cellphones at the church during the attack, and escaped after the operation.
The church in a statement said: "There were four staff members in the building at the time, including a security guard who called the police. No one was hurt. The perpetrators are still at large and police are investigating,"
"The incident has only served to strengthen our resolve to build a church that will help build this nation, which we love, and which we know God loves deeply too," the church said.
The Hillsong Church also thanked the police and Century City security services who arrived at the scene to control the situation.
"We are very thankful that everyone is okay," the church said.
South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana also confirmed the incident in a statement saying:
"According to information two suspects, one armed entered the church and robbed the employees inside the premises of their cell phones. The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation with no arrests as yet."
